I am awestruck at the virtuosity achieved by the two ensembles -- Elision and Norway's Cikada, under the direction of Christian Eggen. The level of connectedness shows the result of many years of joint effort and familiarity with the composer and his scores. Such precision and spirited interpretation allows a seamless continuum from acoustic to purely electronic sound. My favourite moments are the electronic works, particularly the gorgeously luminescent Katasterismoi, where the spatial aspects of the installation are heard to the full. The music, scattering rapid shards of sound, truly embodies its concept of star constellations suggesting figures.
